Abstract

Urban road networks are important elements of social and economic development processes, and with the increasing demand for transportation, many countries are trying to study and evaluate the effectiveness of urban road networks. Therefore, network assessments are needed to guide the development of urban transport systems and infrastructure. This study evaluates the connectivity level of road network segments in Addis Kitema suburb of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia by applying several connectivity metrics such as beta, alpha, gamma, degree of connectivity, node density, and link density. do this. Total number of network flows, speed of connected nodes, concentration of nodes. This study uses an evaluation technique that applies metrics to the entire network. Calculate metrics for each region using ArcGIS 10.3.
Based on these indicators, most of the city's road network is well connected, but areas on the city's outskirts are poorly connected. So; efforts to develop or create new roads should also be available on the outskirts of cities.
The study also looked at accessibility, road intersections, sidewalks, bike lanes, and parking.
